Jessica’s Style: Working Girl

Jessica’s Style: Working Girl

Since heading back to work full time for someone else, I’ve found that there are parts of my wardrobe that I just do not touch any longer. The office I work in is small (7 people including myself) and mainly girls. The role I do is about 95% based in the office so I don’t need to really ‘dress’ for work. This sounds really amazing in theory, but it can be hard to find that balance of casual and comfortable to sit as a desk all day but still smart enough to look the part.

The office I work in has the most appalling air conditioning (like most do, seriously, I think it’s an office requirement) so it can get quite cold. I always have a scarf with me and a cardigan that I can put on/take off throughout the day.

While some of the girls wear heel every day, I’m more a boots or flats kind of girl. It’s still looks smart but keep my tootsies a little warmer! Jewellery I keep simple and mainly wear studs as I’m often holding my phone in my shoulder so anything fancy becomes rather annoying, it’s more about rings, necklaces, belts and scarves to dress up an outfit.

For my hair, if it’s freshly washed it’s out and free, if it’s a day or two afterwards it tied up in a messy top knot or a sleek sock-bun (12).

My work wardrobe is mainly made up of shirts I can layer and long sleeve stripe tees or a pretty sweater. I pair these with black skinny jeans or mini skirts and opaque tights. I mix in a few simple t-shirt dresses too and dress them up with accessories to make them more ‘work-y’ and of course a staple warm wool coat for when I leave the office.

What do you like to wear to work?

1. Black Lustre chiffon top 2. I’m a lover of stripes, this sleeveless blouse is so versatile 3. Cream sweater with lace shoulder detail 4. Simple necklaces by Gorjana 5. Basic belt to pair with t-shirt dresses 6. Such a great outfit with pops of colour 7. Gold stacking rings from Uncovet 8. A great pair of simple boots from Sole Society 9. Pretty stripe scarf from Mod Cloth 10. Contract collar sweat shirt 11. Heart Breaker sweater from J Crew 12. Beautiful hair 13. Polka Dot mesh flats 14. Leather and gold bracelet 15. A fantastic office look with Bardot trousers from ASOS, love the high waist
