This or That: Lip Stains
I love, love lip stains. Being able to have some subtle colour in your lip, that plays off your natural tones and doesn’t make a huge mess when you’re having a smooch. Always on the hunt for the perfect pout, I decided to review two lip stains that feature in my make up drawer.
Revlon, Just Bitten in ‘Desire’
Price: Approximately $22 NZD
What they say: This unique 2 in 1 gives you kiss proof colour with soft shine and a nourishing balm for supreme comfort. More here.
What I say: These come in a whole lot of gorgeous colours, something to suit everyone which is great. The balm feels really nice and that’s about all the good points done. The stain applicator is a fibre tip pen, similar to a permanent market which doesn’t feel very nice. It shows up every single flake of dry skin (no matter how much you exfoliate/moisturise before) and it hardly lasts. Sorry Revlon, you make amazing lipsticks so back to the drawing board with this one.
Price: 3/10 expensive for what it is. Product: 4/10 good colours, nice balm
Price: Approximately $56 NZD
What they say: Our original rose-tinted stain is kiss-proof, see-through color for lips & cheeks that lasts for hours. Naturally sheer & sexy on all complexions…it’s innocent yet provocative. Originally created for an exotic dancer in the 1970s, benetint has soared to cult fave status. It’s loved by celebs, makeup artists and gals around the world. It’s the sexiest flush you can get from a bottle! More here.
What I say: As soon as you open this little bottle, the smell of roses is just wonderful. Easy to apply, and very hard to over apply (even with my fair skin) I loved it as a cheek stain! So pretty. It lasted most of the day on my cheeks but only lasted 3-4 hours on my lips. Works great with a lip gloss over the top. This is a total ‘must-have’ for me now and I couldn’t be without it in my bag.
Price: 6/10 yowzer, expensive BUT will last forever. Product: 8/10 just gorgeous
